A unified framework for proving channel coding theorems for general channels and possibly mismatched decoding

چکیده
In [1] we derived one shot achievable and converse bounds with possible mismatched decoding. Specializing the results to channels of increasing block length, we provide a unified framework for proving channel coding theorems. A new novel quantity is defined and its analysis provides the best performance in several regimes of interest. To be considered for an 2015 IEEE Jack Keil Wolf ISIT Student Paper Award.

Multiuser Coding Techniques for Mismatched Decoding
This paper studies multiuser coding techniques for channel coding with a given (possibly suboptimal) decoding rule. For the mismatched discrete memoryless multiple-access channel, error exponents are obtained which are tight with respect to the ensemble average, and positive within the interior of Lapidoth’s achievable rate region. In the special case of maximum-likelihood decoding, the ensembl...
متن کاملOn Achievable Rates for Channels with Mismatched Decoding
The problem of mismatched decoding for discrete memoryless channels is addressed. A mismatched cognitive multiple-access channel is introduced, and an inner bound on its capacity region is derived using two alternative encoding methods: superposition coding and random binning. The inner bounds are derived by analyzing the average error probability of the code ensemble for both methods and by a ...
متن کاملMismatched decoding revisited: General alphabets, channels with memory, and the wide-band limit
The mismatch capacity of a channel is the highest rate at which reliable communication is possible over the channel with a given (possibly suboptimal) decoding rule. This quantity has been studied extensively for single-letter decoding rules over discrete memoryless channels (DMCs). Here we extend the study to memoryless channels with general alphabets and to channels with memory with possibly ...
متن کاملChannel capacity of polar coding with a given polar mismatched successive cancellation decoder
Arıkan’s polar coding, is by now a well studied technique that allows achieving the symmetric capacity of binary input memoryless channels with low complexity encoding and decoding, provided that the polar decoding architecture is used and the decoding metric is matched to the true channel. In this paper, we analyze communication rates that are achievable when the polar coding/decoding architec...
متن کاملOn the Achievable Rate-Regions for the Gaussian Two-way Diamond Channels
In this channel,we study rate region of a Gaussian two-way diamond channel which operates in half-duplex mode. In this channel, two transceiver (TR) nodes exchange their messages with the help of two relay nodes. We consider a special case of the Gaussian two-way diamond channels which is called Compute-and-Forward Multiple Access Channel (CF-MAC). In the CF-MAC, the TR nodes transmit their mes...
